Freedom

This is what represents freedom in my opinion.

1. Freedom of Speech

“Without freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom; and no such thing as public liberty, without freedom of speech.” –Benjamin Franklin

2. Freedom of Thought

“We are faced with the paradoxical fact that education has become one of the chief obstacles to intelligence and freedom of thought.” –Bertrand Russell

3. Freedom of Religion

“If the freedom of religion, guaranteed to us by law in theory, can ever rise in practice under the overbearing inquisition of public opinion, then and only then will truth prevail over fanaticism.” –Thomas Jefferson

via Bikyamasr

4. Freedom of Expression

“If we don’t believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don’t believe in it at all.” –Noam Chomsky

via edublogs

5. Freedom of Assembly

“Without general elections, without unrestricted freedom of press and assembly, without a free struggle of opinion, life dies out in every public institution, becomes a mere semblance of life, in which only the bureaucracy remains as the active element. Public life gradually falls asleep, a few dozen party leaders of inexhaustible energy and boundless experience direct and rule. Such conditions must inevitably cause a brutalization of public life: attempted assassinations, shootings of hostages, etc.” –Rosa Luxemburg

via Greysmon

6. Freedom of Choice

“As human beings, we are endowed with freedom of choice, and we cannot shuffle off our responsibility upon the shoulders of God or nature. We must shoulder it ourselves. It is out responsibility.” -Arnold Toynbee
