Why are you talking to me?

One of my biggest pet peeves in the world is rudeness. Now, branching off that, phone rudeness is up there with the most annoying things in the world.

This is how a phone conversation is supposed to be! Courtesy of English-Learners

Now, I am going to explain the situation. My friend calls me on the phone and we’re conversing, perfectly normal. Then suddenly they start talking to someone else while they’re on the phone with me for a couple of minutes while I just have my damn phone to my ear. While these two are conversing with one another, I started to get angrier and angrier by the second.

It’s incredibly rude to all of a sudden, whether you’re conversing face to face or over the phone, start another conversation with someone else and act if the person you were initially talking to isn’t there. What also bothers me a great deal about the situation  is that I was the one called, they started the conversation with me! How the hell am I supposed to feel about that? Am I really that dull? Are they simply that rude and dense that they didn’t know any better?

Plus on other occasions I’ve gone through the torture of having an individual on the other end of the call ‘texting.’ There are few things more annoying a rude than to hear buttons on the phone being pressed while you’re trying to converse with that same person over the phone.

I wouldn’t have been angry if they simply said “I’ll call you back,” “hold on,” or anything else acknowledging my presence before or during their change of focus from me to the other person.

Beware: next time someone decides to call me and then decides to keep me on the phone while starting an extended conversation with someone else I am going hunt you down and smack you upside your head!

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that has a pet peeves category, haha. Can you add to this people who say “hold on, I’ve got a text” then proceed to respond to it, clicking away in your ear? FRUSTRATING!

That’s quite frustrating as well. I think I am going to amend the post now.

They aren’t many of us in the pet peeves category. We’ve got to stick together!
